How to book an Appointment using the new Appointment Booking System

We have introduced a new triage system for all patient GP appointment requests.

This means that instead of calling at 8am to book, all patients will now be asked to complete an online medical triage form. The form will be reviewed by a GP, who will decide the most appropriate next step for your care and ensure you are seen in the right place, at the right time, by the most appropriate professional.

The link to complete the online request form can be found here: https://accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/d81025

Online Patient Triage

If you have a medical issue, please select I have a health problem’

If you have an admin request e.g. test results / fit note  / Routine Care appointment such as vaccinations or request for information, please select ‘I have an admin or routing care request’

Please notedo not use admin request for medical issues.  Unfortunately, they will not be dealt with and you will be asked to resubmit your request.

Types of Appointments

  • For medical emergencies, such as sudden difficulty in breathing, chest, or abdominal pain, please call 999.
  • If you need urgent NHS mental health support, Call 111 and select the mental health option for the First Response Service
  • For non-urgent free medical advice call NHS 111 which operates 24/7 or visit 111 online
  • For coughs, colds, minor illness, and medication queries please contact your local pharmacist for advice. If your own local pharmacist is unable to manage your medication query you can book an appointment with our practice-based pharmacists via reception. (https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy)
  • For minor injuries such as broken bones and sprains, please visit Clinic 9 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, CB2 0QQ.
  • For non-medical support, such as day centres, charities, or community groups to reduce loneliness, you can book a conversation with our Social Prescriber via reception.

Cancelling your appointment

Please consider an appointment with our ACP rather than a doctor. They can issue prescriptions and see children and adults for things such as Chest infections, ear, nose or throat complaints or other minor ailments .

They can also:

Assess diagnose and treat patients attending primary health care services with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions.

Assess diagnose and treat patients in surgery or own home who require acute medical attention and refer to appropriate agency.

Directly admit patients to secondary care hospital in acute medical need.

Refer patients to other medical specialities for assessment if deemed appropriate.

Refer patients as appropriate to other members of the multidisciplinary team, secondary care and to other statutory and voluntary organisations including referral for imaging investigations (x-ray, ultrasound scan, MRIs).

Telephone Advice

As an alternative to an appointment we are able to offer telephone advice.  Please advise the receptionist of your problem and they will arrange for an appropriate clinician to contact you.

Chaperones

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.  Please contact the reception team for further details or discuss with the clinician you are details.

Late Arrivals

Patients are requested to arrive in good time for their designated appointment. If you arrive late please let the reception team know.

Patients who arrive late could face a delay or will be invited to rebook, this is at the discretion of the clinician who your appointment was with.

Thank you for your co-operation
